Greetings, bretheren! It's been a while since I've posted here, but I just had to come back and show you what happened...

Some of you may remember just over 5 years ago when I made a comment on this post:

I was talking about how well the Excel brand beef liver from Wal-Mart worked for me!

Well, check out the attached pics!!!

Anyone familiar with the D/FW area should have heard about the Las Colinas canals. I used to work for Microsoft many years ago and the bulding I was in I could watch outside and see people go out and fish all the time! I was so jealous that I couldn't just leave work and fish with 'em!

Anyway, I went back. The cat you see in my pic to the left (by my alias) I caught out there.

All these I caught out here just a few days ago were all too small to keep (and I just threw 'em back after taking the pics.) I fish for fun -- not food (unless they are big enough!)

So anyway, back to the Excel brand beef liver. Now while I can't honestly say that ALL the fish were caught on it, I CAN honestly say that a good 2/3rds were. This stuff is just awesome! It's just as bloody as chicken liver, BUT it actually stays on the hook! Sometimes after catching 3-4 fish on the same piece of it! It's very bloody, very slimy, and as you can see, it really works.

I don't do anything extra to it. I cut it into little squares, take my trebel hook off, push it through (this can be a little difficult sometimes) and then put it back on the swivel. That way, you have no open areas (cuts or tears) and all three prongs of the hook are set very well into the bait.

When I was fishing down here under the bridge (I had to get out of that really hot sun on this past Friday) I had four poles in the water--and let me tell you how busy they kept me!!! There were times I had one fish on another pole that I had to snag up before I could reel the one I already had in!! It was crazy!

Now, here's the disclaimer. I can't promise you the same results. But I can tell you that in my experience, it works just as well as chicken liver, except better because you can fling it hard and it won't fall off before it hits the water. You don't have to be as careful with the beef liver.

Again, make sure you get the cryovac pack of the Excel beef liver. It's thick cut, very bloody, and the cats love it!!

If you have a story of you using it, I'd love to hear it!!!
