Hey guys i am new to BOC i have read on this sight alot and finally joined, i have learned a lot from you guys and i appriciate it. I have recently got into flathead fishing i always catfished but mostly caught channels and blues. My question is whats the best way to hook live bait? i use bluegill mostly and chubs sometimes but they seem to die really quick, i am using 6/0 Octapus Circle hooks.. Thanks in advance for the help guys!!
I hook 'em just behind and under the dorsal fin and they usually stay lively for hours (unless they get eaten!). Once you poke a few, you'll notice a kind of tough spot in there that holds a hook well and doesn't kill your bait. With 6 to 8" bluegill, I've had better hook-ups with an 8/0 octopus circle, by the way.
