I have a st.croix catfish pole with a abu garcia 6500 on it. The pole is med. action. It is perfect for the fishing i do usually medium size channels and a flat or two. I would like to get another pole for catfishing. Maybe for something a little larger would a med. action do? Some of the med.-heavy poles seem really big at the store. Just don't want over kill. Any opinions? |

Ya know . I have had great luck from the ugly stick catfish rods .Only 30 bucks. It is a med heavy and will haul in the biggest freshwater fish in the US.It will not break .I have one that I have had for ten years .It has nicks and scratches and it will still bend and touch rod tip to but.I will not buy anything else .They also have a sensitive tip that cats will not feel before they are hooked Jess Douglas

Hard to beat an Ugly Stick. I got my wife a lady's Ugly Stick last year, she loves that thing. Casts farther than I do. |

It's what I used when I started catfishing as a kid. Never had any problems with an Ugly Stick. Can't count how many i've caught on one. Robert Star City, Arkansas
