Guts!! The only way to go. I have fishied everything under the sun the last 2 weeks with nothing. All you need is some worms, fish the bank line and catch some suckers...carp whatever and gut em. Net the guts, throw them on the hook and get ready. I fished for almost 2 weeks with absolutely no luck. When I just fished the guts I was fighting for channel in less than 5 mintues. It was crazy. I went this morning from 4:30 until 5:30 and caught 4 channels and lost a couple bigguns. So.. if your stuggling, net some guts. let me know how your fishing trip goes with using my method. Thanks Jess

now...when I say go to bait with guts...so far its strictly sucker guts for me. I tried using the guts of the channels I caught the other day and what a waste of time haha. I dont know if those catfish guts are just that disgusting but the fish would nibble it 1 time and then not touch it. With the sucker guts they just couldnt resist. Not sure why but catfish guts are a total no go. Jess

Hello all. I know this thread is almost nine months old but had to post. About a week ago I came upon this site looking for knots and rigs. And have since learned a lot going over your guys posts.Any way to the point. Got on the river last night armed with about half a dozen poles and an arsenal of baits. Week old gizzards,2 day old chicken livers, hot dogs, shad and some danny kings. River was way up. Dam side was wide open. But we have a hydroelectric plant right next to it. People use it for snagging as well as bank fishing. But they had the gates closed. So I chose there. Two hours into it and nothing. My wife lands a small drum. It gets gutted and I offer it to Mr. Whiskers. 15 minutes and he offers a 3-4 lb blue back. Then nothing.six or seven in the morning gets here. The chicken products are just about doing me in. And I have no more guts left. I usually wrap my livers in panty hose. I decided not to on one pole. Ten minutes after it goes in 2-3 lb channel. Pole number two gets plain liver. It yields 4-5 lb channel. My wife was thrilled and amazed when I told her there were much larger ones out there. But as I told her It's about doing something you like, spending time with those you care about. The rotten liver smell is a bonus. So be flexible in your bait. A bad day fishing is still better than any good day at work.

Just got off the river again this morning. Got there last night around 7:30. Around 9 I caught a small blue. On Danny Kings Original again. Fished the rest of the night without any luck. Around 3 caught a drum on a dead minnow. Split the guts 3 ways. Around 5:30 this morning my wife brings over a nice 3-4 pounder. She had no sooner put her gut laden hook in and let it sink when she caught him. So I guess I will be honing up my dough ball making skills. Because guts are the real deal. I figure I might have to change my routine. Dough for drum then set my catfish up and kick back. So anyway gotta go clean some fish! Thanks to everyone for all the help you are willing to share!!! A bad day fishing is still better than any good day at work.
