Hello everyone I am new to the boc. I fish the missouri river for flatheads but just started to fish for blues in july and the biggest is 63 lbs and my fishing partners is 56. We have them figured out just want some new Ideas on where to fish and how to position. We catch them just not on a consistency. I have talked to a lot of people about catching them during the day and they say it is easy but cant figure them out any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Blue fever, Welcome to the BOC, Sorry I can't help you. The biggest catfish I have caught was an 18# channel. I haven't caught a flathead in many years and I'm not sure I ever caught a blue. I just wanted to welcome you. I bet the help you want will soon be here.

I am from texas but i assume that river fishing is pretty close to the same here as it is for you and most of the time i try to find a spot where the water drops off pretty steep (most of the time it will be in a bend) then i will drop ancor about 25 yards upstream so the current will take the scent accros the drop off where the big cats are hiding. And i always use cut shad . doing this i have been able to consistantly land nice blues. hope this helps and happy fishing |

I am new here, but I do a lot of river fishing in the Coosa River, located in Alabama. Adam is right about the river bends holding big blues. I always have have good luck on deep outside bends with nearby shallows. I also agree that fresh cut shad is the best bait. |
