To start out hello to everybody in the BOC. I know it's been awhile since I posted anything.

The spring time jug line bite is in full swing right now here on Livingston. Been getting +20 head every morning I have fished them except one this year and we caught 18 that morning.

Now here is what I have been seeing the last week that has me scratching my head. I have been seeing a number of nice blues porpoising. the little ones look to be 15 pounds give or take a few pounds and I have saw some that would bust 50 doing it too. What are these fish doing? Is this part of how they spawn? The fish are in about 25-30 feet of water.

And my wife wants to know why we are not catching some of those monster fish! LOL

Hi Eston, the Texas weather has got to be a lot different than here in Illinois, I was thinking that the spawn might be early this year when we had 80 degree weather back 2months ago, now our temperature has been in the 40's for the last week. Just can't predict the weather and how its effecting the fish.

Yes the weather is a lot different here. we just had a cool front and the lows are i the high 50's. going to get above 80 again today. And that is considered nice. In the last week the wife and I saw a weather forecast for Chicago and I smarted off "Do you want to move to Chicago?"

Why are these high fin blues rolling on top of the water?

Eston,
I witnessed that same behavior at my local Copan Lake, Oklahoma last July at night. The Blues were jumpin' out of the water and rollin'on the surface. One hour later a strong thunderstorm rolled over the horizon. We thought it was caused by the weather front but really don't know. Also, the cats bit the juglines almost immediately when the jug hit the water. Very Strange. Good fishin' for awhile.

Hi Everyone:

My Son and I witnessed the same thing on Gillham Lake early this month. (July) We were bass fishing early one morning, back in a 20-28 ft. deep pocket. We kept seeing fish surfacing and sometimes just their tails coming out of the water. At first we couldnt figure out what kind of fish it was, but soon figured out it was the blue catfish. The next morning we took out noodles up there and brought home a nice mess of fish, with the largest around 15 pounds. Sure was fun.

I see channels and flatheads surfacing here in kansas. I fish a lot close to the surfice under a float. It is fun to see a cat hit on the surface like a bass on top water.
