If you are fishing for catfish and stripper, is it better to fish the low side or high side of the dam? |

If your bank fishing then below the dam would probably be the best place to start. If you have a boat I would try up on the lake. It works for me. |

whats up everyone, i know in ohio fishing below the dam is where it is at.....u might loose a lil tackle due to snags but its worth it....ur best bet would be to cast ur goldfish(or whatever bait u might prefer) out , slightly tighten ur line, then dont touch it.....ive caught some nice cats below dillon dam ......from what i hear the bait fish run up river, the cats chase the baitfish, and when they hit the dam its a dead end.....so there they are at the dam...... |

I also try to catch the dam fish below the dam dam! LOL Around here the shad get so thick below the dam you can catch your fill with a throw net and them hook'em up and let'em drift. |

I hit up the back side of the dam here at Lake Sangchris one night this past summer. Never fished it before, so we thought we'd give it a try. I tossed out the cast net to get some bait fish, and I think I ended up with the majority of the lake's fish population lol. I had numerous carp, chub, hybrid bass, bluegill, shad, and one 12" smallmouth bass. If I could make a haul like that every time I threw out the cast net, I'd be good to go. It's an awesome spot for netting baitfish if you have a steel cast net...The snags are terrible haha. Turned my poor net into a paper doll quick. "Why is it that you always catch the monsters right after everyone else leaves?". "The 3 P's of fishing...Patience, persistence, and peace and quiet..." |
