i've heard of guys tying a burlap sack to a tree and pouring oil on it has anyone tried this and does it work????? you gonna talk or you gonna fish !!!!!

Yes it works, except I always use an old hydraulic oil bucket and drill some tiny holes around the bottom and but old oil, diesel, etc in it. Some folks might argue it's environmental effect, but not very much comes out, and what does usally is all over the hogs. I drive a post in the ground and tie the bucket to it.

so you're telling take bucket with holes in it tie it up and use hydrolic fluid and this works? so the hogs just rub themselves in the oil on ground or should i tie a burlap sack to the tree and pour the oil on it instead?? well thanks for the bucket info.... you gonna talk or you gonna fish !!!!!

I use the bucket because the I can't go to the hunting camp a lot during the week and the bucket with small holes lasts longer. The oil and diesel just seeps out, and it's very effective keeping the flies off, especially the diesel. They seem to like that more, at least in my experience. But I imagine the sack would work great too. You can just put more in the bucket and leave it.
