Jason,I hunt several different pieces of national forest that has produced nice bucks,I also have permission from landowners to bowhunt not to far from the shenandoah national park,anytime you would like to hookup let me know. | ||

No never hunted there. I'm not far down the road from ya, in Buena Vista. We generally hunt a few peices of private land round here and some Nat'l Forest. The ONLY thing better than catfishin'................is being a member of the BOC!!! | ||

We've been fishin the section through Big Island at the paper mill, bout 25 minutes from here. One ramp has been producing pretty well. Nothing monstrous, but some nice fish. The one in my profile pic is 15# came outa there. Another buddy has been bank fishin from the ramp and has caught several 8-20# and lost a huge one at the bank. Look in the pics section under Mountiancats gang, there are a few of our upper James cats, all from the one ramp. The fine state of Virginia frowns heavily on drinkin' and drivin' therefore I no longer have a drivers license, I usually rely on somebody going with me to drag my boat. Needin' repairs on the gas motor, but heck all the fish we been catchin' are within trolling distance anyway. Shoot yeah, PM me sometime and let's hookup.... three at the most, the middle guy has to sit on the livewell, but it works. workin' on rodholder situation now, have three in a makeshift console between the front man and the middle man, I usually just lean mine against the gunwales and hope two of them don't get nailed at the same time ya know.... Channels, man, we gettin covered up in channels right now. Usually they tend to be small, 3-5# range, but we've had a few bigger. It's the blues I can't get to cooperate, had one last week, I'd venture to guess about 10# and that sucker managed to untie hisself from my rope for a stringer..??.. Anyway, The ol' tub ain't fancy jus a 14' crestliner with two seats the front is decked and got my 33# foot controlled trolling motor there and depthfinder. The livewell is in the middle and on the backbench is the other seat with the 52# troller back there right now. My antique 1957 Gale motor is in need of carb work, but waitin' on parts from PA, may be a winter project. The ONLY thing better than catfishin'................is being a member of the BOC!!! | ||

Got an interesting trip, no guarenteed results, but we're gonna try. Camping trip near Big Island, couple of campers, and a couple of boats.... Don't know fer sure yet.... but we're trying. Most surely..(sorry) this weekend, since permission for the private land expires Labor day, not fer sure if I'm gonna make it. Heck I didn't invite Frances... gotta see what the wheather holds. Alright I got a thread in the gathering section under "possible mini-gathering in VA". We'll see if we got any interest. Can ya find out some info bout the campground and PM me with it, ya know somebody's gonna ask. Gonna have to get to planning in case they need reservations or whatever. Reckon we'll see how this week plays out and what kinda response we get.... I was kinda lookin at going to Ohio the weekend before, ( 17-19th), but if we can get some interest and a few brothers together, this is closer and surely less expensive.
