at least 10 or 20 dishonest folks looking to take
advantage of them!! guys im sorry to hear about
the loss of your stands i cant say i know what it
feels like . but i do know what it feels like
to be ripped off.lets say your fishing along the
river you lock the car and take every precaution
nothing left within sight you come back a few hours later to find every thing stolen out of your
car including the radio. or its vandlized to the
point that its not legaly driveable no windsheild
etc. top mashed in not a single light left intact
well this is the state of our world nothing is
safe anywhere...!!!!! sorry guys sore subject....
Never compromise whats right..... John

Down this way in arkansas, i hunt a very large tract of highly posted private ground with me and my brother bein the only two on it. Little over 2500 acres and the land surrounding is the same way. They got my gamecam, feeder and cut a huge masterlock off of my deerstand, and took it too. I sure do feel ya bro.

We had a problem like that once and what we did was set some dummies up in tree stands. When we caught the guys trespassing we were walking them at gun point to the property line we came up on one of the stands. My son in law said hey looks like some ones in your stand. And with that the 2 boys watched in total shock as I put the cross hairs on the back of the dummy and shot it. Since that time we have never had a problem with people steeling or trespassing again. They believe we will shoot them on site, guess that’s because we told them we were a little tired of it and since they could not read the posted sings we did not believe they should be allowed to repopulate and we would ensure they did not if we ever seen them out there again.

Good idea Jim, with were i hunt theres only a few people hunting bout 10000 acres with gates on all of it. I just can't figure out how they got back there unless they done alot of walking, even if they used a boat. We've never seen anyone but gonna find me a dummy just to put in a stand. That'll slowem down at least.
Maybe they'll see someone and stay away. I have found a two way radio in one of my stands and we caught some guys last year tresspassing on neighboring land by listening to it. As for now when i put up a climber, which is what i like to use just because i can move it around depending on conditions, I always take it with me when i leave. I heard someone say once to me, if i wanted it why would i leave it somewhere and i think they had a good point.

Oh and on the subject of trespassers i've had a guy swear up and down i was trespassing telling me that i was gonna be arrested Blah, Blah. I was hunting on the farm i've worked on since i was 14, and the dumb sumwitch had the nerve to try to run me off. After one call to the county police he shut up and got a free ride to boot.

I had a game cam out on a small peice of property here in Illinois. It was only 30 yards from a stand. I never noticed any problems with tresspassing and have never had a stand stolen on this property but my game cam only lasted about 9 days before it got ripped off. If you dont have a digital cam then they will probably here the film winding and then they r sure to take it because they don't want you to see them on it.

I've only caught 1 trespasser on my game camera, and i was really suprised because its quite a hike in to where i hunt and to get there by 4-wheeler you have to go right by my folks house. At that time i had a 35mm game cam but i had an cage welded up around it made out of 1/4" angle and expanded metal and it was chained to the tree, so if he wanted it, he would have had to really work. Now i have a digital and its just got a cable lock. I need to figure out a better way of mounting it so it wont be easy to walk off with.

Well, I have got say that it amazes me that they even found the camera at all! Either they were just lucky and walked right by it or they are in there quite alot and it was just a matter of time.

I was instantly blessed to have been born in America

the tresspassing story reminded me of what happened this past year in Michigan where some guy shot like 5 people from a deerstand that wasnt even his (it belonged to the people he shot) its sad that not many more people follow the old ways .... ask permission to hunt/fish the land/pond before you go ....

I have the one to top all, I had a deer stand go missing. I was very upset and I had worked hard on it. I was only 17 when this happened. I could see where the stand had been dragged out to a truck and loaded. Bout two weeks later I had a fellow telling me about his new stand he had just put up, and he was not going to be able to hunt it, so I was more than welcome to hunt it all I want. I had lost my stand in that area so I took him up on it. I went and found the stand. Much to my suprise when I found it, it was the stand that had been stolen. The fellow that told me to hunt the stand was my older, a lot older cusin. Now I did not get mad, I got even. I want say what I did to the stand, but I did tell my cusin that I killed two good bucks out of the stand, and say one that I did not get a shoot on the last day I hunted. Sure enough, come that Sat, they took him to the doctor. He never stole any more of my stands after that.

michael, i like that get even spirit.
a thief is fair game.

i've never had a stand stolen.
i have found some stands on one of our farms.
i've done everything from load the stands up and park at the general store selling treestands, a few even to the owner.
i've taken stands and held them until the end of hunting season.

my classic get even for a stand though is a chainsaw.
i dont touch the stand, just crush it with the tree its on. i guess there is nothing like going to your treestand and finding 180 bucks worth of what used to be a stand.

i've had 4 wheeler problems on the same farm with them cutting fences to gain access.
i never knew how fun trapping was.
all those boards with 16 penny nails i buried real shallow in their trails.
that problem has never reocurred. i guess daddy gets a little ticked when he has to buy 4 new tires.
i always did want to see what one of those gutter nails did to a tire. i had a few gutter nails go completely missing.

If it aint a Stelling it aint loud enough.
