Copied this from WV's ask the conservation officers web site: HUNTERS COULD BE AFFECTED BY NEW CANADA IMPORTATION BAN . . . In response to the confirmation of BSE in a bovine cow from a northern Alberta farm, the USDA and FDA have banned the import of all ruminant and ruminant products (including cervids, since they are ruminants) from Canada until further notice. Unless the ban is lifted prior to the hunting season, it will affect hunters wishing to bring meat and trophies from their Canadian hunting trips into the United States. The ban includes carcasses, meat, hides, and mounted heads of hunter-killed free-ranging deer, elk, moose and caribou (or any other free-ranging ruminant) from Canada. } |

Hmm, maybe they are just giving a little payback for earlier this year? That could put some serious dings in some wallets! "Whiskey For My Men...Beer For My Horses!" Danville,Virginia

I wouldn't blame Old Sam one little bit. I am from Canada and not really proud of our Federal Govt.'s actions over the last gulf war. Take a look at who our Prime Minister is, a French man (sissy) from Quebec, and what did France do over the war. I never talked to one general Canadian that agreed with our govt's positon so have NO idea where he was getting his direction from. I have an allocation for four out of country deer licences which buddies from Michigan use each year and I don't expect they will be coming huntin this fall, even though the deer (whitetail) are in good numbers and shape because of the light winter we had. I feel real sorry for guys that depend on this for a living. Oh well I guess it will leave more deer for me to choose from. |
