Ok listen to this story heard it yesterday

Where the Ohio river starts here in Pittsburgh we have a fountain and a park point state park and when they were making the fountain they had to send divers down to do something im not shure about what but they said that there were catfish 6 feet long and 300 pounds and the divers said that they would never go down to do any more work down there and that the catfish were trying to eat them to

and to ad to this there are so many cats in that area i mean you cant throw a rock and not hit one do you think that would be there offspring

so I have 2 questions for you guys do you believe this ( this isnt a trick question i really heard this)and if so what kind of catfish do you think they would be.

Yep me too. Same story. Couple years back on my lake they spotted a 600lb catfish as long as a 14' boat or longer. Said they had people come in a do a search on our 19K lake. I never saw anyone looking. Just a story. I hope, cause I swim in those waters. ouch.
I do bet there are some real big cats out there in my lake.

I'm from the Country and I like it that way.

Yes, a true urban legend if there ever was one. There are several such stories about Bagnell Dam at lake of the Ozarks here in Missouri. My favorite is the one where divers went down to check the bottom of the dam and there were several old cars on the lake floor, some 600 feet down. One diver brushed up against what he thought was an old rusted chevy and it slowly swam away....

then again. who really knows what lurks on the bottom 600 feet below the surface....lol

And here I thought we had the only Volkswagon sized cats around here. I've heard the same story about the Disney, Okla. dam on Grand Lake since I was a kid.

If it would ever happen that someone would get one of these monster and prove one story to be true. I beleave that all these stories would get some merits. But untell then I will have to see the proof first.

Thought I remembered one about the cats here looking like the ol' tractor-trailers that ran off the bridge.....the divers working on the dam nevr made it up...only radio transmissions......

pure urban legend or somebody would have sent a full blown cattin mission against these mosters of the local waters....

Who said fishing is a waste? I fully intend to catch me the big one. Yesiree, I'm using a unicorn's horn for a pole, Bigfoot's claw for a hook, and the Loch Ness monster for live-bait.

And if all that fails, I'm going to call in the big guns! LOL

i do believe that there are plenty of 100-200 lb cats out there since cats live long lives and never stop growing hence some of the horror stories about giant cats busting saltwater poles or dragging grapplers into the water-but not 500-600 pounders i once saw a huge channel cat rolling in a runoff at lake casitis in california-i know that cat far exceded the 58 lb world record -it looked like a damm pig had to be at least 70 lbs

You guys keep HEARING about these huge cats---I actually caught one. It took so long to land it that it died from old age before I got it to shore. We used 4 auto wreckers to haul it up the bank for pictures. never did get it weighed, but the when we go the pictures developed---the negatives weighed 14 lbs each......LOL !!!!!

I think that we should find out if there are large cats lurking in the deep waters. We should go get some scuba gear and take a dive and find out for ourselves. That would solve the mystery.

We have a story like that about the Eagle Creek Resevoir in indiana. Said they went down to check on the dam and the divers wouldn't go back down because of the size of some of the cats. They didn't go as far as saying they were 600 lbs. or anything I think they were worried that a big 100lb. cat could grab you and if it didn't let go you could run out of air and drown. They weren't scared of being live bait.
